Ranked play uses an Elo rating. You gain or lose points based on your finishing position each game, and your Elo places you in one of eleven named tiers. Ranked lobbies are matched to players near your rating, an account must reach level 10 to queue, and games that end before stage 10 don't count toward Elo.

Elo distribution

Every ranked player, bucketed by Elo. Over half sit at the starting rating (1000–1024) — most accounts play their placement games and stop — so the ladder above that is a small, steep tail. Bars use a square-root scale so the smaller bands stay visible.
